A2 Bean and Ebbsfleet junction improvements – excavation works
Dear local residents and businesses
We are pleased to inform you that we have received notification from the Secretary of State
for Transport that the A2 Bean and Ebbsfleet junction improvements scheme can now
proceed to construction.
Following on from the enabling works we have been carrying out over the past few weeks
we will now be starting more significant work on the A2 mainline carriageway over a short
distance east and west of the Bean junction. This work will involve the removal of the
existing steel central reservation barrier and replacing it with a new concrete barrier. The
work will start on Monday 8 June and is scheduled to occur over the next few months. This
will inevitably create some noise for those who live close to the works, but we will do our
best to minimise this wherever possible. Whilst the majority of the central reserve removal
will be carried out during the daytime, the works at Bean Bridge will need to be done
overnight due to the working area available; we will advise of specific dates for this activity
closer to the time.
In addition to the work in the A2 central reserve we are also likely to be continuing our
surveys and other enabling works over a wider area. We will endeavour to notify you in
advance if there is a risk that these works may impact you by generating any significant
noise or disruption.
We will be writing to you again shortly to provide you with more details about the scheme,
how it will impact you and what you can expect to see as we progress with the works.
More information about the works and diversions can be found on our website:
